Painting a whole army blue? Starting with the right colour primer can save you a serious amount of time. Ultramarine Blue is a great choice for blue-armoured miniatures, giving you a coloured foundation straight from the can before you move on to details, shading and highlights.

The Army Painter – Colour Primer: Ultramarine Blue (400ml)

Spend less time basecoating and more time bringing your miniatures to life. The Army Painter Ultramarine Blue Colour Primer combines primer and colour in one convenient spray, making it ideal for quickly preparing models with a rich blue basecoat.

Designed for plastic, resin and metal miniatures, its fine-pigment formula and precision nozzle help provide even coverage while preserving the details of your models.

Key Features

  • Primer and basecoat in one – Combine two preparation steps to get your models ready for painting faster.

  • Rich ultramarine blue – An excellent starting point for blue-armoured miniatures and other projects featuring a strong blue colour scheme.

  • Fine-pigment formula – Designed to provide smooth coverage without obscuring fine details when applied correctly.

  • Matt finish – Creates a suitable foundation for subsequent layers of paint.

  • Colour-matched range – Coordinates with matching colours in The Army Painter's Warpaints range.

  • 400ml aerosol – Plenty of primer for multiple miniatures and larger projects.

Perfect For

  • Ultramarines and other blue-armoured sci-fi miniatures.

  • Tabletop armies that need a consistent blue basecoat.

  • Fantasy miniatures, scale models and other projects using ultramarine blue.

  • Hobbyists looking to speed up preparation before brush painting.

Application Tips

Shake the can thoroughly before use. Spray outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, holding the can approximately 15–20cm from the model. Apply several thin coats rather than one heavy coat, allowing each to dry before applying the next. Avoid spraying in extreme temperatures or high humidity, and always test on a spare model or piece of sprue first.

Please note: This is a pressurised, highly flammable aerosol. Follow the safety instructions on the can and check the delivery options available for aerosol products before ordering.
