Shades are one of those paints that can make a surprisingly big difference to a model without needing much skill. Coelia Greenshade is particularly useful for blue and green models, adding depth to recesses while giving the overall colour a slightly cooler, richer tone. I used this blended with Black Templar contrast paint when painting my Behemoth tyrannids to give a deep, blue/black tone over some bleached bone undercoat.

If you're new to shades, don't be tempted to absolutely drown the model in it! A controlled application into the recesses will usually give you a much cleaner result.
